What is the Festival of Colors?

Festival of Colors, also known as Holi, is the modern American version of a traditional Indian Holi Festival. Holi is a festival celebrated every spring in India. It commemorates when Lord Krishna and His devotees threw colors on one another over five thousand years ago. Millions of people celebrate this event annually to promote love and friendship.

When is the group color throwing?

Group color throws will be held at approximately 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm.

Is Parking available, and how far is it to walk to the entrance? Will there be a shuttle?

There will be ample parking available. Maximum walking time to the entrance door will be 15 minutes. No there will not be a shuttle.

Can we bring our own colors?

No, for safety reasons, colors other than those distributed inside the area are strictly prohibited.

Can we bring alcohol with us? Is smoking allowed?

Alcohol and smoking of all kinds are strictly prohibited. It is a spiritual and family friendly festival. There will be a bag check for security purposes.

Can we bring our own food with us?

Outside food is not allowed. Food can be purchased inside the festival area.

Is it suitable for children?

The festival is enjoyed by kids of all ages. Kids will love it!

What do I need to bring?

  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Replacement T-shirt and pants (Remember, there is a good chance the clothes you wear will be stained beyond recognition.)
  • Plastic bag to put the colored clothes in
  • Be prepared to be colored by others; even your hair will be full of colors

Everybody will be fully colored by the time the festival is over. What do I do to aviod getting color on our car?

The colors are all easy to wash off. There will be water stations where you can wash you face. However, your clothes will be totally colored and need to be disposed of or washed at home with special care. Please bring a plastic bag with you to put your clothes into, and bring other clothing you can put on before you go back into your car.

Can I bring toddlers/infants to the event?

The Festival of colors is a safe event for families. Children and kids as young as 3 years old enjoy running around and playing with colors. That said, toddlers/babies need some extra care and supervision to avoid colors in the eyes.

Is there a health issue involved with the color throwing?

Festival goers are cautioned not to go into the middle of the color throw if they have allergies or respiratory problems. Children should not be in the middle and have dust masks. Dust mask will be available for $2. Persons who are coming for the first time might also want to stay to one side and observe. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Will there be a place to keep my valuables?

No. We cannot take on the responsibility of safe-keeping valuables. We suggest you either leave them in your car or home.
